Your homework this week is English, Spelling and Maths. For spelling we are looking at common words write each word 3 times and pratice it for a spelling test next week.

For English, you need to create a performance to give in class next week. This can be of anything you wish and will be performed next Wednesday.

For Maths, there is no specific activities. Please pracitce all using all areas of maths on education city.

International Day is Tuesday 17th November.

Year 4 are looking at Fiji. You can wear the traditional clothes of Fiji or clothes which are the colour of the flag.

We will be doing some fun activities in class to learn all about Fiji.

Homework Week 11

Hi all,

Your homework this week is English, Maths and Spelling.

Maths is on Education City. Login into Education City and select Homework on the left hand side of the screen. This will take you to the homework page, click on the task and complete. You do not need to print anything as we can check your work from the computer in school.

English is similes, a simile is when you compare something using the word like or as. For example she was as white as a ghost.
Complete the simile person by adding similes to describe their appearance, then complete the person by drawing their head and body. Don't forget to colour it.

Spelling we are focusing on suffixes. A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of a word which change it's meaning. You will have a spelling test on Wednesday.

Hi everyone,

This week your homework is English, Spelling and Maths. For Spelling learn all 10 words for a spelling test on Tuesday next week.

In English you need to create an alphabet poem. Write an adjective, verb and noun for each letter. In each line of your poem the words must start with that letter. For example angry acting ants, bouncing baby bears, cuddly crying cats etc.

In Maths we are looking at time. You need to complete the television programme timetable by adding the start time and the end time and then writing how long the programme is. Then you need to draw the clock hands on the clock faces to show the time.

For spelling you have 10 common words, learn these for a spelling test on Wednesday.

In English we are looking at speech. Copy the sentences into your book and add in the correct punctuation and speech marks. Do not write on the sheet!!

Maths is focusing on Area and Perimeter. Find the perimeter of each shape then find the area of each shape.

Trip to Los Olivos

Hi all,

We are going to Los Olivos tomorrow, Wednesday 14th October. You will need to bring:

• Small bag
• sun tan lotion
• hat
• sun glasses

• morning snack
• packed lunch if normally packed lunch at school - school dinners will have packed lunch provided

In English we were focusing on Apostrophes, especially the belonging apostrophe, which shows possession of a noun. Re-write the sentences with the apostrophe in the correct place in your homework book.

In Maths we have been learning to multiply by 10. Complete the word problems in your homework book.

Lengua Castellana Deberes semana 6 9-10-15

Hola a todos,
Esta semana la rutina de cambio de libro para el resumen ha cambiado por la realización de los exámenes.
Volveremos a coger libro el próximo martes y como siempre deberán entregar el resumen cada dos semanas.

El viernes 9 entregaré los deberes que tratarán sobre la realización de una noticia y se recogerán el siguiente jueves 15.

Creating Robots!

Year 4 are in the process of making or thinking about making their very own robots!

4J have started theirs last week but still have a lesson left to complete them. You can still bring parts in for this week but please make sure nothing is made at home because your teachers are looking at what you can create in class!

4G, you will be making your robot in a few weeks time so start collecting different items which may be useful. You will receive more information about this in the next few lessons.

Homework Week 5

Hi everyone,

Your homework this week is English, Maths and Spelling.

Your spelling focus is homophones and you must learn the meaning and the spelling of your words ready for a test next Wednesday. Remember, Read, Say, Cover and Write.

In English you must match the words to their contraction using colours or patterns. Colour the words then colour their matching contraction with the same colour or pattern. Then choose 5 contractions and write a sentence for each.

Number bonds to 100 is the focus in Maths, complete the sums in exercise 1 then in exercise 2 tick the sums which are correct.

Hola a todos,
A continuación les detallo lo que va a pasar cada día en la semana de exámenes:
La semana de exámenes comienza el lunes 5 de octubre y evaluaré las unidades 1 y 2:
- Lunes 5 : ortografía.
- Martes 6 : gramática.
- Miércoles 7 : expresión escrita.
- Jueves 8: comprensión lectora.
- Viernes 9: se usará este día para terminar alguno de los ejercicios anteriores.

Toda esta información está reflejada  en las fichas de estudio y en los diarios de los alumnos y alumnas.
Es conveniente que aprovechen los deberes para repasar pues son muy parecidos a los ejercicios de los exámenes.

Aprovecho ya la ocasión para informar que los deberes los entregaré mañana 1 de octubre y que la recogida será como siempre el jueves 8 de octubre.

Aqualand

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is the last day of school and we will be going to Aqualand!!!!!

Here are the things you will need to take:

• hat
• sun cream
• sunglasses
• towel
• change of clothes including an extra Oakley T-shirt.
• a snack for the Morning
• a packed lunch if you are normally a packed lunch, school dinners people will get a packed lunch from school
• water bottle
• a small bag to keep all your things in

Please come to school wearing you swimwear under your clothes. You must have your Oakley T-shirt at all times when in Aqualand. You can wear your flip flops (cholas) to school.

This is a great way to end the year. Well done to everyone, you have worked extremely hard in Year 4 and we will miss you! We are very proud of you and have enjoyed being your teachers.

Hi all,

Your homework for English in Week 9 & 10 is to write a Historical Fiction book. This must be completed on paper as a book. This must be handed into school on Tuesday 22nd June

WALT: Write a historical fiction book.

You have 2 weeks to write a historical fiction book. Remember a historical fiction text is a made up story but has characters or events which are true. These characters or events are from the past.

Your story must have:

• 3 chapters (minimum)
•  Front cover
•  Contents Page
•  Illustrations

Week 9 Science

This week you are going to be creating and carrying out an experiment to find out what materials are best to reduce the volume of sound.

You will need to bring in a minimum of 3 different materials to use in your experiment. These could be wool, bubble-wrap, paper etc.

Camp

On Tuesday we will be going to camp for 1 night. Here is a list of what you must take and what you can not take.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

v Hygiene kit (toothbrush and toothpaste, shower gel, hair brush, a towel)

v Sleeping bag.

v Oakley hat, sun screen and lip protection.

v Comfortable clothing (that can get dirty), training trousers and t-shirts for the activities, please do not bring jeans.

v Changes of underwear.

v Appropriate shoes that can get wet, for the shower.

v Torch and spare batteries.

v T-shirt and summer school uniform to go and come back from campsite trip.

v Comfortable footwear.

v Beach kit (swimming costume, towel and flip-flops).

Deberes de Lengua semana 5 15-05-15

Hola a todos,
Los deberes de esta semana tienen que ver con el contenido que nos queda por evaluar. La hoja la entregaré el 14-05-15 y la recogeré el 21.
Recuerdo que los exámenes finales serán en 2 semanas.

Como he dicho anteriormente los libros de lectura de autor canario, Cleta y Domitila y Piojos y tarea, serán evaluados en la parte de comprensión lectora, y esa será la nota final del año para este aspecto. Con lo cual es obligado realizar esta lectura en casa para después trabajar en gran grupo la comprensión lectora antes de hacerla por escrito.

Con respecto al  día de Canarias, pido colaboración en el aprendizaje de la letra de la canción que cerrará la asamblea.

Hi all!!

Week 2´s homework is English, Maths, Science and Spelling. As usual you have 10 words to learn for a spelling test next Wednesday. PLEASE make sure you are practicing these every day.

English we are focusing on adverbs. Complete the tasks by adding adverbs to each sentence.

In Maths we are looking at multiplication in word problems. You need to cut out the questions, stick them in your homework book then write the answer.

Science is a word search for magnetic objects. Find and colour the magnetic objects green and the non magnetic objects red.

Los deberes de esta semana hacen un repaso de lo trabajado en clase.
Se recogerán el próximo jueves 23.
Esta semana no llevan libro de lectura para realizar el resumen ya que estamos trabajando en clase el libro leído durante las vacaciones y del cual vamos a hacer la comprensión lectora por escrito y que contará como nota.
Volverán a hacer un resumen con el siguiente libro de autor canario y haremos lo mismo que con el anterior.

Hi all and welcome back!!

We hope you all had a very nice, relaxing Easter break. We start this term with lots to do!!!

Your homework this week is Maths, English, Topic and Spelling. This needs to be handed back into school on Tuesday 21st April.

The spelling focus for this week is words ending in 'sion'. Practice and learn all 10 words for a spelling test next Wednesday.

For English, you need to read the text, highlight or shade any mistakes you find and correct these. Once you have done this, you must complete the text.

Maths is focusing on addition and subtraction of negative numbers. You must complete all equations. Don't forget to use the number line if you are finding it tricky.

We have started a new topic, The Vikings, your homework is to solve which Viking had which nickname. Follow the clues to help you do this. This is problem solving so it will really make you think!!

Palmitos Park

We are going to Palmitos Park tomorrow, Thursday 12th March. Please try to be at school in time for register as we are leaving at 9:00am.

Week 10

Hello everyone!

This week your homework is to continue with creating your board game. Remember this should include some form of Maths function (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division). You can have simple Maths equations or really challenge the player with some tricky word problems.

Don't forget you need to create the playing pieces for your games. If you are looking for some ideas think about the board games you play at home. Can you make any changes to these and create a whole new game?

Your instructions can be hand written or typed on the computer and your diary should be written on paper or in a small note book.

Homework Week 9 & 10

Hi all.

Firstly, well done on your exams this week, you have all worked very hard :-) Mr Glenn and I are very proud of you.

Your homework this week and for week 10 is to design and create a board game. This task combines your English and Maths. Remember to keep a diary of your progress.

The task is:

Maths and English Homework:

For the next three weeks you need to:

1.      Design and create a new MATHS board game. Your game must include some sort of maths (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication etc). You must make the pieces and think about how many players can play at once. Make it stand out so people want to play it!

2.      Make and write a diary entry for each day that you work on it. Explain what you are doing and how you are doing it. Use diagrams and pictures if you want to. (Use adjectives and adverbs)

3.      Write your instructions for your board game. Make sure they are easy to follow. (Use bullet points and imperatives (Bossy verbs))

On Wednesday 25^th March you will need to bring all 3 things with you into school so that you can share your games with the rest of the class.

Esta semana no habrá resumen pero sí que tienen que leer un libro, ya sea de casa o de la biblioteca.
Con respecto  a la semana de exámenes, cada uno y una tiene en su agenda escolar qué día será cada examen, pero por si hay dudas lo detallo a continuación:
- Lunes: examen de ortografía, dictado de palabras que comienzan por hie-, hue- y palabras terminadas en -illo/-illa.
- Martes: examen de gramática.
- Miércoles: examen expresión escrita, descripción de personajes.
- Jueves: examen comprensión lectora.
También llevan una hoja de deberes que les servirá de repaso general.

Your homework this week is Maths, Spelling and English.

We are focusing on adverbs in English, complete both sides of the exercise sheet given.

In Maths the task focuses on symmetry. Complete the shapes by shading in the correct squares to show a symmetrical picture.

Spelling focuses on prefixes. Learn all 10 words for a spelling test on Wednesday. Remember once you have completed this keep practicing for the whole week.

This week you have English, Maths and Topic homework.

In topic we have been looking at Rainforests, write a paragraph about each layer in the Rainforest. Remember there are 4 layers!!!

In maths we are looking at multiplying and dividing numbers by 10 or 100. Complete the questions on the sheet given.

For English please underline the important information in each sentence. In task 3 the information is given and you need to create the sentence.

You do not have specific spelling words this week, we would like you to revise all the words you have had in week 2 - week 5. You will have a spelling test next Friday of 20 words which you have previously studied.

Don't forget it is Carnaval this Friday and we hope to see you all looking fantastic!!!

We also have no school next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hi all!!

Homework this week is English, Maths, Science and Spelling.

For spelling we are looking at homophones, words that sound the same but have a different meaning. You will have a spelling test next Wednesday.

In English we are focusing on our Reading Comprehension. Please read the information and answer the questions.

In Maths we have been learning about measurement and how to convert it. Complete the tables for mm,cm and m conversions.

Science is a 2 week topic and needs to be handed in on Tuesday 10th of February. Choose one of the habitats listed and research information about it. Put this information into a report which includes pictures. You can draw these pictures or take them from the internet.

Ya estamos de vuelta y con las pilas cargadas para afrontar con ganas un nuevo trimestre.
